MEDIA RELEASE
Monday 22nd August 2011
Next generation women’s media property launches exclusively on Facebook: justb.
In what is considered an industry first and a sign of the times, Kidspot today announced the launch of justb. - a next generation women’s media offering hosted entirely on Facebook and mirrored on Twitter. A mix of accessible shares and curated conversations will reunite editors with women who love magazines but have been distracted by online.
Alexandra Carlton, Madison’s recently departed deputy features editor, will assume the role of justb. editor and describes the offering as the best of the magazine world but online:
“justb. will use new media to illuminate, entertain and enhance the conversation amongst Australian women. Leveraging the best ingredients of a women’s mag on Facebook gives us a head start due to the habitual nature of her visits and the sharing nature of the platform. It will offer what women need and crave all in one place—with a shared voice and unified mission to have her opinions heard, as well as absorb the events of the day and what her peers and others she respects are saying about them.”
justb.’s content will cover a broad but pertinent spectrum of topics to give readers daily news and inspiration. A group of well known ‘panellists’ and peers will provide a fresh take on top-of-mind conversations that impact the audience in an emotional way. The online community will provide women with an environment of camaraderie, security and the freedom to express themselves. Somewhere where she can just be herself.
Katie May, Founder and CEO of Kidspot (the publisher behind justb), believes the medium fits perfectly with what today’s women want:
“justb. is a natural extension of SheSpot, our female centric portfolio that has been engaging with Australian women online for years. Our plan is to build the most active destination online for women between 25 and 54 years, by attracting the right voices and expertise to engage women in a fresh and energetic way. Kidspot has a proven track record of knowing how to grow an audience, inform and entertain its readers and build a thriving community. Add that experience to the scale and viral nature of Facebook and you have a powerful combination. This is an exciting new venture for us and we’re thrilled to have attracted someone of Alex’s calibre to lead the effort.”
justb. will launch in early September 2011 and can be found on Facebook.
